In 2014, Avesta Group took part in the reconversion of a 20Ha urban park called Al-Shaheed Park, a garden built in the early 1960’s. Avesta’s skills helped in the elaboration of appropriate strategic planning for both Memorial Museum and Habitat Museum.

Al-Shaheed Park

The expanded Al-Shaheed Park is a recreation area and civic landmark for Kuwait City. Its museums — Memorial at one end, Habitat at the other — help new and old generations alike to understand their homeland’s history and natural heritage. The Park’s gardens are intended to be not only part of a Museum visit but also a leisure destination.

The Memorial Museum

The Memorial Museum help Kuwaitis appreciate the courage of their countrymen. Younger Kuwaitis, in particular, may not know about the Invasion or learn about prior battles in school. It is a national site commemorating Kuwaitis who gave their lives to their country. It is a place where Kuwaitis can not only learn about their nation's history but also, by submitting their memories and objects, add to the country's narrative.

Through media, objects, and images, visitors gain an appreciation of Kuwait’s past and see how that past informs the present and the future.
