In 1999, the Cité de la Mer used the services of Avesta Group during its renovation and expansion.

A Symbolic Place

Under the magnificent Art Deco vault, of what used to be the Transatlantic liner terminal, it has taken over this unique architectural heritage, built in 1933, the figurehead of the largest artificial roadstead in the world.

La Cité de la Mer: a Family Attraction All About Man’s Adventures Under the Sea

Eleven years after its opening, it is still one of the most popular leisure attractions in France, through a series of themed exhibits that both inform and entertain visitors.
La Cité de la Mer has 17 aquariums, the first nuclear-powered submarine: le Redoutable and the largest warship opened to the public in the world.
In 2012, it celebrated its 10th anniversary and its 2,500,000th visitor.
