From 2015 to date, Avesta Group has implemented its skills to concept et develop a new space for contemporary culture in Moscow. The GES 2 project is located in a very active district of the island now named “Red October”.
The originality of the project comes from the area where the cultural centre will be located: a tremendous historical power station built between 1904 and 1908. The GES-2 project will transform this building into a space conceived as an articulated experience going from visual to performing arts, passing through a public free area destined for people.
The project is governed by two central thoughts: First, the idea is to build a space where visitors will feel guided by their intuition. Thus, when entering and reaching the "welcoming" area, it will be sufficient for them to turn their eyes right and left, up and down to understand what is inside, where to go, and how to move. The second relates to the circulation strategy. The idea is to create a fluid and visible web, a single piece conceived as kind of spatial sculpture connecting to each other all the spaces and activities, as well as highlighting the entrances.
