In 1992, Avesta Group worked on a project dedicated to the memory of Vendee War’s victims.

The Memorial

The commemorative building was designed by Christine de Vichet and Philippe Noir and gives tribute to the Victims of the " Infernal Columns " of the War of Vendée and more particularly to 564 victims killed by the column of General Cordellier died in Lucs-sur-Boulogne on February 28th, 1794. The names of these victims were listed by the priest Barbedette who was then the priest of Big Luc. It also aims to be the memorial of all the victims of all the totalitarianism, and in that sense, Alexandre Soljenitsyne inaugurated it in 1993.

Contemplation Through the Memorial

As a compact and blind building, the Memorial is a place of reflection. Everything is allusive, shades, starting with the buildings and the path that leads to it.
While leaving the Memorial, the path of memory continues to the chapel of Little Luke, where are kept the memorial tables with the names of the victims of the massacre.
