MetaLmorphose Monnaie de Paris

From 2011, Avesta Group worked on the new cultural concept of the Monnaie de Paris. It was a great project, both on architectural and museum level, whose objective was to create a modern public space around the historical activities of metalworking.

A Historical Building on Paris' Heart

The respectable French Mint was created in 854 and since 1775 is located in a preindustrial neoclassic palace in the heart of Paris, only hundreds of meters away from the Louvre and the Musée d'Orsay. It is considered as one of the most beautiful buildings of Paris, chef-d'oeuvre of the 18th century. For over three centuries, the Monnaie de Paris has hit money away from prying eyes. It is recognised worldwide for its exceptional know-how and the quality of its production. This know-how is considered part of the French national intangible heritage. The institution wanted to open up more to the public and enhance its buildings Quai Conti and the many skills they contain.

An Ambitious Cultural Project

The project of the Monnaie de Paris, titled "Metal-Morphosis" and launched in 2009, aims to promote this heritage and create a vibrant cultural centre with a rich and diverse cultural offer.

The cultural complex will offer a new museum dedicated to the Paris Mint, visible workshops, a Guy Savoy restaurant, a temporary exhibition gallery, indoor gardens et retail.

This project transformed the Monnaie de Paris into a new welcoming and open place to live in the city. An experiential tour allows you to discover the art workshops (more than 150 craftsmen work there) as well as the hitherto invisible treasures of its collections.
The permanent itinerary echoes temporary exhibitions of contemporary art and prestigious events (film trophies, film launches, concerts, etc.).
A modern boutique under the Monnaie de Paris brand highlights the art productions and the excellence of its craftsmanship
Brands representing the excellence of French know-how, the art of living or culture are settled in different areas of the site, including in a new concept store.
