A Museum Dedicated to the Saint-Etienne Traditions and Know-How

The Musée de l’Art et de l’Industrie (Museum of Craftsmanship and Industry) unfolds on three levels of exposure its prestigious collections, gathered around three themes closely linked to the city and its expertise: cycles, weapons and textiles.
It is a vibrant museum, at the crossroads of art and history, technology and science, reflecting the tremendous Saint-Etienne traditions and know-how, during a lively place open to the most contemporary creation.
The museum holds the most comprehensive collection of ribbons, tapes, as well as machinery, fixtures, tools and furniture, all representative of the traditional know-how of Saint Etienne and its region.

Museum and New Technologies

By its content, the museum offers a look at the art and design industries of every day. The museum is also open to the modern world, with its exhibition design, the new information technologies and communication. It is in the interests of dissemination but also conservation that was made computerised inventory and digitisation of images from the collections, as well as significant filmmaking campaigns on traditional know-how and new technologies.
