In 2005, the Musée de l’Horlogerie needed to dynamise its programme. Avesta Group implemented its skills for this purpose.

The Alive Industrial Past of a Region

The Horology Museum is a major cultural pole in Normandy. Initiated during the 18th century, the competence and know-how of Saint-Nicolas d’Aliermont was a spearhead in micro techniques and accuracy mechanism. Through its development, the local science has successfully found several applications in a context of control and shortening of the time: Factory pointers, time stamps, speed monitoring… Facing the contemporary industry changes, the local expertise has managed to maintain its quality in high-technology pieces, heir of the previous horology.

A New Visit Programme

Through its new visit programme, the museum proposes interactive and playful attractions, which retraces the history of local horology and precision. Displaying archives, testimonies, collections, photos and also more than 400 artefacts, tools and machines, the site combines domestic, scientific horology and the life of the horologers. Workshops for groups and scholars have been established to allow this culture to stay alive and transmit know-how.
