In 2004, Avesta Group participated as a cultural planner to the modernisation of the Museum d’Histoire Naturelle of Bourges, France.
The Natural History Museum in Bourges has a fascinating history, beginning in the early 20th when the specialist in mammalogy and entomology Guy Babault brought various species from his journeys in Africa. Quickly, the institution relocated to more significant places to welcome donations from private collections and scientists. A zoo will open, and the Museum becomes then a part of the National Museum of Natural History. During the post-war period, the museum meets many troubles to gain back its notoriety and its public, declining slowly.
Fortunately, after three years of closing and one year of renovation, the museum opens its gates again, presenting a larger exhibition space. Furthermore, a collection storage building and the main reception are added. This bet will be a success, and in 2001 a new gallery entirely dedicated to Humans is created, making the museum an irresistible attraction in the cultural landscape of Bourges and its area.
