In 2011, Avesta Group implemented its skills in planning an innovative contemporary art museum, the Permm.
In 2008, emerged in Russia what is called "the Perm anomaly", a phenomenon by which this small industrial and regional city located 1 300 km from Moscow, through what is locally called "a constellation magical mysticism and politics" was about to become an international cultural destination. Perm city is the eastern outpost of Europe. Recently, both in Russia and abroad, Perm Krai has earned a well-deserved reputation as a region introducing innovative initiatives in the area of governance and self-government.
The initiatives included the development and approval of a new master plan for the city of Perm, the creation of a world-class museum of contemporary art and a series of other cultural activities. The regional cultural policy concept entitled “The Perm Project” formulates basic principles of development for a mid and long-term perspective.
One essential element of this development plan for culture is the establishment of a Museum of Contemporary Art in the old River Station of the City. The mission of the PERMM is to develop a sensibility to Contemporary Art, encourage social productivity as well as improve the perception of the newest forms of Art. "Engaging with Contemporary Art and ideas", the institution collects, preserves and exhibits fundamentally Povera Art.
